Millers manager Paul Warne will have to deal with a number of key players who are out of contract this summer.
The strike partnership of Michael Smith and Freddie Ladapo are two key figures in a list including thirteen first-team players, whose contracts all expire at the end of the season on July 1.
The list includes other notable names such as loanee forward Will Grigg, midfielder Jamie Lindsay, defender Michael Ihiekwe and young Northern Ireland forward Chiedozie Ogbene.
Freddie Ladapo, 28, and Michael Smith, 30, have both been in fine form this season and together have contributed nearly two-thirds of The Millers’ goals this season.
Rotherham manager Paul Warne said: “It’s great for Smudge [Michael Smith]. He’s scored a lot of goals, but as always, his overall play has been fundamental to our success.
“I think he is one of a lot of our players who are in really good form at the moment and long may that continue.”
So far this season, Rotherham United have been scoring, on average, two goals per game and conceding less than one.
The Millers defence have kept a clean sheet in more than half of their games this season, which will make it concerning for fans that key defender Michael Ihiekwe has not yet signed a new deal with the club.
The 29-year-old has been key in defence for The Millers this season and has captained the team six times this season whilst keeping numerous clean sheets.
Warne and Millers supporters alike will be hoping the team’s 15 game unbeaten run, their top of the league form and title charge could convince Smith and Ladapo to extend their current deals.
