Rotherham United comfortably beat challengers Bromley FC 3-0 in the first round of the FA Cup, in what was the first meeting between the sides in any competition.

The Millers got the breakthrough in the 43rd minute when Ben Wiles opened the scoring with a fierce right-footed strike from the edge of the box into the top left hand corner.

Freddie Ladapo doubled the lead in first half injury time, tapping home from close range after Shane Ferguson’s left-footed inswinging corner from the right was headed down to him to convert in the six yard box by Richard Wood.

In the second half, Bromley’s task became even more difficult, as they were reduced to 10 men after substitute Haji Mnogaa made a reckless challenge on Millers right winger Chiedozie Ogbene

In the 80th minute the game was put beyond any doubt, as Will Grigg was on hand to score from close range after a brilliant cutback from second half sub Tolaji Bola.

Rotherham manager, Paul Warne, reflected on his sides victory:

“Overall, it was a really professional performance, we kept a clean sheet and we’re through.

“On another day, they could have scored and the game could have taken a different turn but fortunately, we came out on top.”

Rotherham United will host either Bolton Wanderers or Stockport County in the Second Round of the Emirates FA Cup, after the teams drew 2-2 in the first round and now must play a replay.

The game will be played on the weekend commencing Friday 3rd December, with further details to be confirmed in due course.
