Fireworks lit up the Rotherham sky last night in memory of three friends killed in a car crash at the weekend.

The display took place at 8pm yesterday in Burgoyne Park, Aston, for the 18-year-old and two 19-year-olds, who have not yet been named.

The three teenagers died after their car crashed into a tree at 6.10pm on Sunday.

A blue car has also been left at the scene where the incident took place with heartfelt messages written on it.

The grieving mother of one of the teenagers killed in the tragedy said how much he will be missed.

The message reads: “To my beautiful boy, I will love you and miss you forever. I love you with all my heart, till we meet again. Love you.”

South Yorkshire Police said a white Ford Fiesta had gone off the road close to the Todwick Court junction.

A spokesperson from the force, said: “The three occupants, two-19-year-olds and an 18-year-old, were sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Their families have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.”
