A Rotherham Superintendent took to Twitter to share her battle with breast cancer after she saw television presenter Julia Bradbury speak about her mastectomy.
Superintendent Lynne Knox of South Yorkshire Police praised Rotherham Hospital after her operation last week.
She said: “I initially didn’t want to go public about my breast cancer. I worried about my job. I was even foolishly embarrassed about the op, but listening to Julia Bradbury and to other brave women’s stories has inspired me.”
“I am absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of responses I have received. This was not about sympathy, but making sure men and women do their health checks and praising the NHS.
She continued to warn her followers: “I had no symptoms, felt great. Cancer affects so many.”
Supt Knox is now recovering after her operation.
